In this article, We are going to cover How to Enable Password Authentication for AWS EC2 Instance.
Prerequisite
- AWS EC2 Instance details with Key pair
First login to EC2 Instance with key pair
ssh -i ec2-key.pem/key.ppk username@ip_address
Navigate to /etc/ssh directory
cd /etc/ssh
Open the ssh configuration sshd_config file
sudo nano sshd_config
Enable Password Authentication for AWS EC2
Find the Line containing ‘PasswordAuthentication’ parameter and change its value from ‘no’ to ‘yes’
PasswordAuthentication yes
Save the file and exit
Not setup the password for user ubuntu
sudo passwd ubuntu
Restart the sshd service to take effect
sudo service sshd restart
logout and log to EC2 instance using password you set
ssh ubuntu@ip_address
Now you can login to your AWS EC2 Instance using Password
